Bob was born in 1967 to an unnamed mother and Big Bob. His father had a drinking problem and ran a restaurant called Big Bob's Diner. Sometime in Bob's childhood, his mother passed away.
Despite this, Linda is a pushover, always easily convinced by her kids to do all the work on their school projects, but she doesn't think she's a pushover (" Synchronized Swimming"). Louise, in particular, can make Linda do whatever she wants. He strongly dislikes his mother-in-law, Gloria, primarily her voice and the noises she makes. In " Crawl Space," he hides in a wall for 3 days to avoid her.
As a child, Bob was forced to work in his father's restaurant and would rarely have time for himself. His father never smiled as he grew. Bob made himself "toys" out of restaurant supplies, such as a spatula, a scrubbing pad, and a piece of soap. He became attached to these, but was rarely allowed to play with them either. He envied children that were allowed to have fun (" Bob Fires the Kids").Hugo Habercore is the health inspector who tries to put Bob's Burgers out of business in Human Flesh. They can be highly competitive with each other, especially regarding their kids. In " Eggs for Days," the episode reveals that they each hide their own eggs around the apartment every year for the kids to find them, and whoever the last egg belongs to wins. Sometimes, it can take the whole afternoon. They also seem to have an ongoing competition with each other since at the end of " Li'l Hard Dad," Bob tells Linda, "You win best parent of the week," so it seems like they hold contests to see which of them can be the best parent of the week. Linda always supports Gene, even if it's illogical. In " The Unnatural," she paid a coach to help teach her son how to play baseball, even though it was a scam and more than they could typically afford. Linda supports her son in other ways, like his antics. Or at least, she's the most patient. In " Gene's Christmas Break," Linda is the only one who doesn't explicitly tell Gene to stop playing his terrible Christmas vinyl. She also didn't stop Gene from imitating Bob for a few days and even encouraged it (" Broadcast Wagstaff School News"). How they express their love to each other might sometimes translate poorly. Before " My Fuzzy Valentine," Linda quietly let herself suffer because Bob never did much for Valentine's Day. In " Are You There Bob? It's Me, Birthday," Linda was going to plan a surprise birthday for Bob, even though Bob hates surprise birthdays. However, when they discover something isn't working, they fix it immediately. In " My Fuzzy Valentine," Bob does more to make Valentine's Day more romantic, and in " Are You There Bob? It's Me, Birthday," Linda decides to tone down and change her thing for Bob into something he'd enjoy. A true kitchen essential is the apron which protects your clothes and just looks great! This particular look has both the DC and Bob’s Burgers logos and lists the original burgers created by Chef Alvin Cailan for this tasty collab.
Bob Sr. is Bob's father. They are shown to have a difficult, strained relationship as Bob Sr. is extremely controlling, critical and unsupportive of his son. This is highlighted in the episode " Father of the Bob" when Big Bob, ridiculed and refused to let Bob serve his custom made "Baby You Can Chive My Car" to his regular, Henry. He has shown a conspicuous capacity for patience, although this patience is so frequently tested by friends, family, neighbors, and rivals alike. He can be brusque with those who ignore his requests or make unreasonable demands of him; however he is typically only uncivil towards those who go out of their way to demean or harass him, namely his neighbor, rival, and fellow restaurateur Jimmy Pesto, owner of nearby Jimmy Pesto's Pizzeria.Despite their many diametric differences, Bob and Gene love each other very much and often learn from each other in unexpected ways. Gene helps Bob learn to let things go in Li'l Hard Dad, Bob helps Gene feel safe enough to face a tough challenge in The Laser-inth, and they both learn to trust each other above all else on a valentine's date gone wrong in " V for Valentine-detta."
