About this deal

Alix says: “Stuart was constantly in and out of trouble with the law, which I believed at the time was just rascality. However, as much as I loved reading his thoughts and feeling, especially surrounding his own daughter, Fiona, finding out as well as during the trial, his life seemed to be way more inserted than his brothers. D’Souza also led the litagtion against Gawker Media involving the wrestler Hulk Hogan, which resulted in one of the largest invasion of privacy judgement in history.

I loved how the author takes us back to the start of their life to examine important questions of nature vs nurture and examines the complex early life situations can form behaviours and shape future events.Mudlark editorial director Joel Simons acquired world English rights from Cathryn Summerhayes at Curtis Brown for My Brother the Killer. It’s written by Alix Sharpley, his elder brother, and describes in great detail events such as their childhood and the murder charge itself. The 15-year old’s body was never recovered, but Danielle’s parents soon learned that her ‘Uncle Stuart’, a close family friend, had concealed a decades-long history of sexual violence against teenage girls. In this book, Campbell’s brother , Alix Sharkey, revisits his childhood, growing up side by side with Campbell, reflecting on childhood traumas that have certainly moulded both their adult lives, and discussing the many warning signs which came from Campbell’s behaviour and crimes over the years, but which in many instances, the author was not aware of at the time.

A man has told how he knew his brother was guilty of killing a missing schoolgirl after just 10 minutes in his company. He said he is 'furious' with his brother for not telling Danielle's parents where her body is, and hopes his book will encourage Campbell to do the right thing. I like to see how crimes have affected not only the people involved, but the families too, and Alix really did show how this affected him. Sharkey traces his brother's secret life and details the hideous crime that-having snuffed out one young life and shattered many others-brought the two brothers face-to-face again.

It's heatless and incredibly frustrating - this is something I still don;t understand from reading this book. While Alix became a successful journalist, Stuart would achieve national infamy during one of the UK’s most notorious and unusual murder trials. I will never understand why murderers who have been convicted, and are already in prison for life, don't reveal where the victims bodies are. Campbell distinguished herself by heroism while participating in aerial flight as an A/OA-10 fighter pilot, 75th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron, 332d Expeditionary Operations Group, 332d Air Expeditionary Wing at Ahmed Al Jabar Air Base, Kuwait on 7 April 2003.

I tend to agree with what I read and hear that without full disclosure of both guilt and the location where Danielle's body is to allow her parent the opportunity lay her to rest Stuart should not be given the luxury of parole. Amongst the stories he’s about to share are also a few light hearted tales to lighten the mood, but be prepared – this episode contains some graphic content. In a case of nature or nurture, it is indeed a main question of the book whether Campbell would have still become the monster he is had he had a different childhood? I'm not sure I can say I enjoyed reading this book - purely because of the nature of what this book is about. The author obviously has made it out on the other side of a what was and still is a terrible situation.

Danielle’s parents Linda and Tony have promised not to block his parole if he reveals where their daughter is. I would have liked to learned more about all the Jones family including Debbie and her parents as well as Danielle and her parents.
